Life's Like Fright Night

Movie #14: Fright Night (1985)

Fright Night is actually a great movie to watch for Halloween. It's campy 1980s and not really scary, but a fun movie overall - great to watch with friends.

Quick Synopsis: 1980s movie about a teenager who thinks a vampire is living next door, but nobody believes him.

My Life's Like This Movie: In the movie, the main character, Jerry finds the television show host of a horror TV series named Peter Vincent to help him fight the vampires.

So, I thought about it, which television show host would I pick to help me fight vampires.

My first thought...Elvira - Mistress of the Dark because she was the horror movie television show host I remember seeing all the time on TV when I was a kid (for more info Check Elvira out on wikipedia). Here's her as a host:

But she'd be a seriously terrible ally - I mean, she's great at being sexy and cheesy, but I can't see her actually fighting a vampire. She looks like she might be afraid to break a nail.

If I went with someone similar to who Jerry went with in the movie - Peter Vincent, I'd go with Vincent Price, a well known horror actor and tv show host (for more info check Vincent Price out on wikipedia). He can be creepy enough to scare off any vampire:

And, I mean, he can even be funny - which is important when you're fighting vampires (gotta keep that sense of humor and all!), here's Vincent with the Muppets:

But...Vincent Price died in 1993, so unless I wanted to resurect him from the dead...which gives me zombie problems in addition to vampire problems...he's a dead end.

So, I need to think out of the box - tv show hosts in general. There's a ton of them: Oprah, Jay Leno, Jeff Probst (Survivor), Ellen, The View ladies, and the list goes on and on and on.

So, I pondered and I searched youtube and google thinking about my question.

I finally made a decision. If I needed to find a television show host to help me fight vampires, I'd get Conan O'Brien(for more info check Conan out on wikipedia):

He's creative, funny (again, sense of humor is super important when it's life or death or vampires), thinks outside of the box, isn't afraid of getting fired, he does his own stunts, and he's really tall with crazy red hair (very imposing). Definitely the guy I'd want standing next to me when I go after vampires.

So, here's my artistic depiction of me and Conan OBrien fighting vampires, if I ever need him to help me out:

I really think Conan could kick ass fighting vampires. Just saying.

* When I think 1980s horror campy movies, I think Monster Squad, even though it's much more a kid's movie than Fright Night:
